When Nike launched the Air Max 1 in 1987, the accompanying TV ad featured The Beatles’ ‘Revolution,’ a fitting soundtrack to the shoe that introduced visible Air cushioning to the masses. Tinker Hatfield took inspiration from the Centre Pompidou, a building that famously exposed its inner structure. Today, the legacy of the Air Max line is told through an annual celebration known as Air Max Day and collaborations.
